A celebration of football, community and two remarkable legacies.

Pre-season begins with more than just ninety minutes of football.

On Saturday 4 July, Flixton FC welcomes Trafford FC to Valley Road for the inaugural Foxall Matthews Community Cup – a fixture that celebrates two people whose dedication and love for their football clubs continues to inspire generations.

The annual cup has been created in memory of Graham Foxall, Trafford FC's much-loved groundskeeper, and Stanley Matthews, one of Flixton FC's most loyal supporters, former player and committee member.

Both men devoted countless years to their clubs, quietly shaping the communities around them and leaving legacies that deserve to be remembered.

For Flixton, the day will also hold special significance as Stanley's family honour his memory with a permanent memorial at Valley Road, ensuring his connection to the club lives on for generations to come.

Football With Purpose

The Foxall Matthews Community Cup is about more than local rivalry.

Both clubs have committed to donating 50% of all gate receipts from their respective home fixtures to local charities, reinforcing the values that sit at the heart of grassroots football.

It is a celebration of two clubs coming together to support the communities that have supported them for so many years.
