Flixton FC 4–0 Ashton Athletic
Edward Case Cup | Valley Road Stadium
Flixton FC produced an impressive all-round performance to record a convincing 4-0 victory over Ashton Athletic at Valley Road Stadium, booking their place in the next round of the Edward Case Cup.
The Lions started brightly and quickly took control of the contest, moving the ball confidently and dictating possession from midfield. Their positive approach was rewarded when Lewis Byrne opened the scoring after a well-worked move.
Flixton continued to press forward and doubled their advantage before the break through Leon Creech from the spot, giving Alex Mortimer's side a deserved 2-0 lead at half-time after an accomplished opening 45 minutes.
The hosts showed no signs of easing off after the restart and continued to create chances. Cian Donoghue added a third goal to put the result beyond doubt before Leon Creech grabbed his second of the afternoon to complete an excellent 4-0 victory.
Defensively, the Lions were equally impressive, limiting Ashton Athletic to very few opportunities while remaining composed throughout. At the other end, Flixton's movement, energy and clinical finishing ensured they were full value for the win.
