Match Result - Flixtons FC vs Worsbrough Bridge Athletic

Match Report

Flixton FC 2-4 Worsbrough Bridge AFC

FA Vase | Valley Road

Our FA Vase campaign came to an end on Saturday afternoon as Worsbrough Bridge AFC claimed a 4-2 victory at Valley Road.

Worsbrough Bridge took a 2-1 lead into half-time, with Lewis Byrne pulling a goal back for us before the break to keep us firmly in the contest heading into the second half.

The game took a significant turn on 54 minutes when Kain Dean was shown a straight red card in what we felt was a very harsh decision. Reduced to ten men for the remainder of the match, we faced an uphill battle against a well-organised Worsbrough side.

The visitors added two further goals after the dismissal to put the tie beyond our reach. Collins Kagame grabbed a late consolation goal for us, but it wasn't enough to prevent our exit from this season's FA Vase.

Although the result was disappointing, there were still plenty of positives to take from the performance. Even with ten men, we continued to compete, kept trying to play our football and never stopped battling until the final whistle.

A Game Changed by One Moment

The statistics reflected our willingness to keep playing despite the setback. We finished the afternoon with:

  • 69% possession

  • 15 total attempts

  • 13 shots

  • 294 completed passes

  • 13% shot conversion rate

We completed 86% of our passes through the middle third, highlighting our desire to control possession and build attacks throughout the game. Playing with ten men for almost the entire second half inevitably made the task far more difficult, but the commitment and effort shown by the players never wavered.
