Flixton made it back-to-back league victories with an impressive 5-2 win over Halewood Apollo at Valley Road on Tuesday evening, producing another confident attacking display in front of the home supporters.

The Lions started brightly and were rewarded with two first-half goals. Lewis Byrne opened the scoring before captain David Lynch doubled the advantage, putting Flixton firmly in control. Halewood pulled one back before the interval, leaving the visitors trailing 2-1 at the break despite Flixton's dominance.

Alex Mortimer's side made the perfect start to the second half as substitute Kieron Molloy extended Flixton's lead with his first goal of the evening. Lewis Byrne then grabbed his second of the match with a superb header before Malloy completed his brace to put the result beyond doubt. Nathan Salisbury added a late consolation for Halewood, but it did little to take away from another excellent performance from the hosts.

There were plenty of positives across the pitch, with three players making their competitive debuts for the club. Aaron Chambers, Jordan Butterworth and Kain Deane all impressed on their first appearances in a Flixton shirt, while Deane capped off a superb debut by being named Player of the Match after an outstanding display at left back.

Another Positive Step Forward

The performance reflected another encouraging display as Flixton continued to build momentum. The Lions finished with:

• 242 completed passes

• 42% shot conversion rate

The statistics highlighted another composed display on the ball, with 81% of Flixton's passing coming through the middle third as the Lions controlled possession and dictated the tempo for long periods. A clinical edge in front of goal saw five goals from 12 attempts, while the team remained organised and disciplined throughout the evening.

The only disappointment on an otherwise excellent evening was the injury suffered by Leon Creech during the first half. Everyone at Flixton FC wishes Leon a full and speedy recovery, and we hope the injury proves to be less serious than first feared.

Looking Ahead

Attention now turns to the FA Vase this Saturday as we welcome Worsbrough Bridge AFC to Valley Road Stadium. After consecutive victories and another strong all-round performance, we'll be looking to carry that momentum into one of the biggest competitions of the season.
