Flixton FC 5-3 Darwen FC

Edward Case Cup First Round North | Valley Road

We booked our place in the next round of the Edward Case Cup with an entertaining 5–3 victory over Darwen FC at Valley Road.

The visitors made the perfect start, taking the lead through Sean Elliott inside the opening minute, but we responded strongly.

Aaron Dwyer brought us level in the 17th minute before Kieron Molloy put us ahead five minutes later. Darwen responded through Nathan Bond on 26 minutes to make it 2–2, but we finished the half strongly.

Ash Cata restored our lead in the 33rd minute before Dwyer grabbed his second of the night just three minutes later to make it 4–2.

Darwen pulled one back through Bradley Sixsmith in first-half stoppage time, meaning we went into the break with a slender 4–3 advantage after a frantic opening 45 minutes.

The second half was a much tighter affair, with neither side able to add to the score for much of the half. We protected our lead before substitute Milan Lalkovic struck in the 88th minute to make the result safe, sealing a 5–3 victory and our place in the next round of the Edward Case Cup.
